ARIZONA AUTHOR WINS 2015 IPPY AWARD
Sedona, AZ – Independent Publisher has announced that “My Favorite Second Chance” (The Lake Effect Series, Book 2) by Rue, has been selected as the Bronze Medal Winner in the LGBT Fiction category for the 19th annual IPPY awards. There were nearly 6,000 books competing in a variety of categories for the best independently published books of the past year.
Rue gladly put down roots in Sedona, Arizona and started a micro publishing company. She writes, blogs, publishes and promotes for Sittin’ On A Goldmine Productions L.L.C. Majoring in Journalism at Pepperdine University, Rue’s life-long love for writing was fine-tuned at the University and she has since become a popular contemporary romance and LGBT fiction writer.
“My Favorite Second Chance” (Sittin’ On A Goldmine 2014) follows the story of the Hutchinson sisters, Gwenn and Rachel, which begins in Duluth, Minnesota and chronicles their growth toward independence as life, love and travel bring experience and wisdom to the sisters’ “bible belt” upbringing. Quite familiar with the region experienced by her characters, the author, Rue, spent a large part of her own upbringing sitting in the pews of many a Midwestern church as she moved with her family from town to town.
“We moved so much that I didn’t have many human friends,” Rue commented. “My best friends were the characters in the books I read, and I believe that greatly influenced my passion for writing.” She added, “I am incredibly grateful for an organization like Independent Publisher, which acknowledges the work of Indie authors everywhere.
For 32 years the mission at Independent Publisher has been to recognize and encourage the work of publishers who exhibit the courage and creativity necessary to take chances, break new ground and bring about change, not only to the world of publishing, but to our society.
“I’m honored that ‘My Favorite Second Chance’ won a Bronze Medal in this prestigious competition and I am pleased that the book has been enjoyed by so many readers,” said Rue. “One of the best things about writing The Lake Effect Series is the opportunity it has given me to meet people who love to read and who enjoy hearing about the writing process.” Her series is quickly gaining a devoted following and earning kudos from many reputable book reviewers.
A reviewer for Hooked on Books recently wrote, “Rue makes the back and forth between the characters point of view flow flawlessly. You get to see more in depth into the characters. It made me laugh and cry.”
Pretty Little Pages’ reviewer wrote, “I adored ‘It’s Not My Favorite’! [Book 1, The Lake Effect Series] It starts off with a bang, and I was hooked right from the very start! This book definitely pulled me in. There are several dynamics in this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Everything worked together really well and created a lasting impression long after I finished reading.”
The conclusion to The Lake Effect Series, “Finally My Favorite,” is scheduled to release June 2015. Featuring cameos from fan-favorites Todd, Flora, Randy, and Thea, this steamy and sexy story of true love—set against the stunning backdrops of Duluth, San Miguel de Allende, and Greece—is a satisfyingly heartfelt conclusion to Rue’s beloved series.
